Are YOU a vegangel?
The idea for this post came from my reflecting upon the many people In my life, who though not vegan themselves, have made important contributions to my work over the years. They are friends, family members and sometimes just acquaintances who on some level, appear to recognize the value of the ideas and facts vegans seek to disseminate. For the sake of this post, I am designating them, "Vegangels." But there are two also important criteria that define them: First, they do not appear to have a need to settle the cognitive dissonance of their recognition of veganism’s importance, with the fact that they are not vegan, by discrediting veganism. Second, they appear to derive some personal satisfaction from facilitating the planting of seeds that may germinate into veganism

So this post is to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of vegangels.
Most vegans, did not become vegan overnight. And even among those who appear to have embraced veganism following a particular incident, it is likely that information and people they encountered previous to whatever they consider the, triggering incident, may have played a critical role in priming them to be ready to become vegan in response to the event they credit with, "turning them vegan." So if you are not yet vegan and whether or not you ever identify yourself as vegan in this lifetime, I am writing this post to celebrate any contributions you may have made or WILL make to what I believe will soon become THE social justice movement of our time.
Thank you to all the wonderful vegangels in the world. Thank you for sharing vegan recipes, bringing vegan dishes to potlucks, taking non-vegans to vegan restaurants, and sharing the facts linking animal protein with the major chronic diseases killing and maiming westerners. Thank you for raising awareness of how animal farming is destroying the environment, creating horrific super-bugs, spreading infectious diseases, and increasing food insecurity for the global poor. Thank you for giving vegan literature to others, and creating opportunities for educated, passionate vegans to speak at public events or otherwise share their message via platforms, churches, and networks that you may have access to.
Thank you also for planting seeds of awareness that animals matter morally – even as we all struggle to discern just exactly what we need to be doing to most align our actions with the highest aspirations of our hearts.
Thank you to the many vegangels in my life --- you know who you are!

My definition of Vegangels (vegan-angels) for the purposes of this post: Non-vegans, who on some level, “get it," though they don't embrace veganism via their own personal choices, yet appear to derive personal satisfaction from contributing to raising awareness about the positive aspects of veganism. To this end, vegangels encourage and sometimes facilitate extraordinary outreach opportunities for vegans to plant seeds of awareness in the larger community.
